The project resulted as incomplete with a single unresolvable communication problem. However, valuable information and experience had been collected and the cause of the failure was analyzed. A further research and investigation took place with a combination of networking and program troubleshooting. The result suggested a data server in the UH network was unreachable. The web server and the data server were able to communicated via the LAN route within the UH network before it reached the internet (NOTE: it is believed the machines first connected to the UH server/firewall before it connected to the internet ); however, what cannot be established was communication to a data server inside of the network. It is strongly believed that certain campus wide security policy was in place filtered and rejected such communication. It was the only logical explanation of how the SQL server and the network driver mapping were allowed and as well as the communication between the window application and the SQL server while the communication between web application and SQL server (which managed by IIS) remain a stub.
